Hawaii Grand Vacation Blog Hop

Grand Vacation Hawaii Blog Hop

Welcome to our Hawaii Grand Vacation Blog Hop.

You may have joined me from Linda Higgins‘ blog or you may be kicking off your journey here. Either way, thanks for getting into the Hawaiian spirit with us as we celebrate the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Grand Vacation for 2015.

I have a couple of projects to share today, so kick back & relax and enjoy your own virtual Hawaii travels today.

No sunscreen required!

Flower lei: Stampin’ Up! style

The inspiration for my first project comes from the beautiful Hawaiian tradition of welcoming visitors with a flower lei.

Flower lei, Stampin' Up! style. Come and join us on a Hawaiian themed blog hop!

We are spoilt for choice with the current Stampin’ Up! offerings of so many adorable flower stamps, dies and punches.

Featuring the colours of So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay, this one is made from the Pansy punch – one of my all-time favourites – and just a few Fun Flower punch shapes.

How to make 3 dimensional flowers from a punch

You need to make a lot of flowers for this one!

Here is a simple way to make flowers with heaps of dimension…

3D Flowers Tutorial from

We joined the flowers together with Bermuda Bay bakers twine. The easiest way to do this is by threading the twine with a needle (see below) so you have a sharp point to poke through the middle of your flowers.

The leaves are made from punched ovals in Wild Wasabi cardstock, embossed with the Woodgrain embossing folder, then folded in half.

Grass Skirt Card

And for our card project today we have a bright and sunny card to reeeeeally get us in the mood. Did someone say Hula?

Here in Australia the weather is turning cooler now as we head towards winter. We’ve already started putting the heater on at night so the warmth of Hawaii is definitely calling my name.Grass Skirt Card. Flower lei, Stampin' Up! style. Come and join us on a Hawaiian themed blog hop!

This card has a Pink Pirouette base, with a Wild Wasabi layer cut with the Fringe Scissors.

Do you recognise the grass fringe? It’s the Jute Ribbon from the Occasions catalogue.

How fun! Thanks for joining us.

We’re saying goodbye to retiring products from the 2014-2015 annual catalogue, but before we do, we’re giving everyone an opportunity to order their favourites with discounts up to 50% off retail. Retiring products will only be available until 2 June, or while supplies last.

Place your orders here.

*Note: Why are these products retiring on 2 June? Since all catalogue launches will now be aligned globally, the current 2014-2015 annual catalogue will end when the new annual catalogue launches on 2 June 2015, rather than its original end date of 30 June 2015. This includes retiring product within the catalogues, as well as the print catalogues themselves.

Use Hostess Code B6ZBHKQV (Craft@Home club members use your own code)

Everyone who uses the hostess code B6ZBHKQV when placing an online retiring list order through my store will receive a surprise in the mail as a little thank you. Note: Don’t use the code if your order is over $300 – instead you can be the ‘hostess’ and choose at least $50 worth of free goodies! And if you’re a Craft@Home club member, remember to use the code that was emailed to you at the start of the month. You’ll get your awesome Inspiration Pack next week.

Check back on Wednesday morning for some blogging fun. I’m taking part in an international Blog Hop and can’t wait for you to join us in this fun themed hop.

Happy stamping,

Bonus Bundles: April 1 -17

Published by under cards | Apr 01 2015

New special-priced bundles have just been released. Stamp sets and their coordinating punches or dies are available at 15% off the usual price.

One of my faves is the Banner Banter set (shown above). At less than $37 (plus P&H) for the clear mount version of 10 stamps plus the adorable little banner punch, I think it’s fabulous value.

Did you know that you can make the banners LONGER than the punch image suggests?

Simply feed your cardstock or patterned paper from the underside of the punch so the length is hanging out over the top. When you punch, it will flag the ends but won’t cut the other side – so the banner can be as long as your want! Very cool trick.

Let me know if you get stuck and I’ll send some pictures to explain it another way.

How cute is that pin stamp?!! Stamp out a few sentiments in various colours and punch them out, then adhere them so it looks like they’re hanging… so cute! And what a quick and easy card.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Check out these new bundles plus all the other existing bundles HERE in my online store.

We are in the middle of school holidays so it’s all action stations here. I took the kidlets to the movies yesterday for the first time in what seemed like forever. It was fun! And a great way to fill in time while the car was being serviced. Wishing you a blessed Easter and special time with your loved ones.

Easter Blog Hop: Berry Basket & Paper Piecing

Published by under cards | Mar 21 2015

EurekaStampers Easter Blog Hop

Thanks for hopping along with us today. We’re so pleased you’re joining us on the EurekaStampers ‘Easter Blog Hop’. You may be starting your journey here or you may have come from Tracy Penn’s page.  Keep hopping around and you’ll see a fabulous range of Easter projects to get you inspired and crafting this weekend.

My project is an Easter basket with a twist. It’s made from clear Window Sheets and the Berry Basket Bigz die. Hmmm, being see-through presented a few photographing challenges, but hopefully you can see it ok here.

Happy Easter Bunny: Berry Basket

Want to see how the Berry Basket Bigz die works? Check out this video.

I used a slightly different method –  glue dots instead of staples. The window sheets are just a little more difficult to work with, but only because it’s hard to see where to line it all up. Such a cool effect though! I’m so glad this is a Bigz die and not framelits. That means we can create our berry baskets out of all kinds of materials.
[Oooh – metal flashing would look amazing too… (brain ticking over)… that will have to be my next project.]

The base of the basket is lined with a 7.5cm x 7.5cm square of So Saffron cardstock. I then sliced up Pink Pirouette and So Saffron cardstock into teeny tiny thin strips. These were scrunched up and then used as ‘fill’ in the bottom of the clear berry basket.

Happy Easter gift basket

The cute little paper pieced rabbit is from the Happy Easter Bunny single stamp, which you can find on page 35 of the Occasions catalogue.

He is attached to a skinny treat bag filled with Cadbury mini eggs. Don’t you love it when companies make products to match our cardstock and ink colours? 😉

Paper Piecing Technique: Easter Bunny

paper piecing1. Stamp the bunny three times: one on white cardstock, one on Pink Pirouette, and one on So Saffron.

2. Carefully hand cut the entire bunny in white, the tummy and tail in pink and the neck ribbon in yellow (So Saffron). Use sharp tipped scissors like Stampin’ Up! paper snips.

3. Using a tiny bit of liquid multipurpose glue, layer the tummy and tail over the white bunny. Finally, adhere to neck ribbon to the bunny.

easter bunny

The “Happy” and “Easter” banners are attached as floating sentiments. They were adhered to a thin strip of window sheet, so they bounce slightly and almost look like they are floating. It’s a fun way to attach sentiments!

Window Sheet Berry Basket

Mmmmm, chocolate. Yum.

I hope you enjoyed my projects today. Now don’t stop hopping! Keep on going and you will land on Lorinda deRegt-Penn’s blog with her gorgeous project. I was lucky enough to see it in person last week and I can tell you it is stunning!
