Getting in Early with Snowflake Soiree

Published by under cards | Feb 25 2013

Snowflake Soiree stamp set and Window Frames Collection framelit dies: both carryover items and available in the current Seasonal Catalogue by Stampin' Up!.

Don't worry, it's not Christmas already!

But I know I'm not the only who vowed that Christmas won't sneak up on me this year. So to inspire us to make a few festive cards each month I'll be posting a Christmas project on the 25th (or thereabouts) each month.

So who's with me?

Today's Christmas project is one I just HAD to share with you. It was made by a fabulous stamping friend, Jenny, who not only is a gorgeous lady but is extremely talented. It's such a treat to get one of her cards, and her last Christmas card actually took my breath away!

Catalogue tip: Did you know that the Snowflake Soiree is still available? It was in the Christmas seasonal catalogue, but you'll find it listed on p34 of the new Seasonal Catalogue as a carryover item. AUD$41.95  for clear mount. LOVE how it works so perfectly with the Window Frames Collection framelit dies for the Big Shot (also a carryover item, aren't we lucky?).

Coordinating colors are Island Indigo, Pool Party, Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand and a touch of Summer Starfruit.

You can choose one of the Sycamore Street products for FREE with every $100 purchase from any current Stampin' Up! catalogue. There are 19 different gifts to choose from in total, though, so choosing which one is definitely the hard part.

Tip: Did you know that with a $300 order you choose 3 FREE Gifts and as a bonus Stampin' Up! will throw in a pack of Silver Glimmer paper? Cool! As well as this, you still get the usual benefits of $50 worth of additional free products to choose!!!

But only during Sale-a-bration… and that finishes in just over a month! Contact me for more info.

Happy stamping,

Published by under 3D projects | Feb 14 2013

Artisan Embellishment Box

Happy Valentines Day!

Today we're feeling the love with an extended Kraft box (p161 Annual Catalogue).

A clear Window Sheet makes up 3 sides and the back is lined with coordinating cardstock. We've used Primrose Petals cardstock (p152) stamped with the all-time favourite En Francais background stamp (p129).

This box is decorated with all kinds of lovely goodies from the new Artisan Embellishment Kit (p10 current Seasonal Catalogue).  Eek window sheets are difficult to photograph!

If you're free this Sunday why not come along to our special Pampering & Papercrafts Class! (Bookings essential, limited spaces still avail).

We're making a box very similar to this AND coordinating cards and I absolutely can't wait!!! Everyone will get a full Artisan Embellishment Kit and some special treats for inside the box. Of course!

Have a fabulous day and happy stamping,

Quick Tip: How to Prevent Curling of Clear Mount Stamps

Published by under techniques | Feb 11 2013

clear mount stamps

New to stamping? Here are some tips to keep your rubber clear mount stamps performing beautifully.

Clear mount stamps are a popular option for many crafters.

  •  Their storage is compact,
  •  they are cost effective,
  •  they are easy to use and
  •  they are versatile!

When your new clear mount Stampin' Up! stamps arrive you'll be keen to get started. Read the instructions on the inside cover of the stamp case. Peel the backing paper off the stamps and apply labels, if desired. One method is outlined in the instructions, so just follow those.

Tip 1: Adhering Labels

Make sure your rubber stamps are perfectly flat when applying the adhesive labels, especially if you apply the label to the rubber (instead of the rubber-to-label method).

Flat on the table is perfect.

A label pulled too tight across the stamp, or a curved stamp in the hand when the label is applied, will result in curling stamps (where the rubber has a curve in it) that won't stick so well to your block.

Flat stamp + Clean block = Better 'stickability'!

Tip 2: Storage

Now that your newly mounted stamps are flat, keep them that way!

In my experience, there are a couple of things you can do to make sure they stay uncurled and in great nick.

The first is to keep them away from excessive heat (such as a hot car or near a window on a summer's day).

The second is to store them in the outer rubber (see above) that they came in. With my first few sets of clear mount stamps I threw this outer part away, thinking it was waste. Wish I hadn't done that! I now keep it inside the case for two reasons:

1. It helps to keep my stamps flat, and

2. It lets me know at a glance if any stamps are missing!

Wishing you many years of happiness with your new stamps.

Sweet Threads and Lace

Sweet Threads Simply Sent card kit

Sweet Threads Simply Sent kit and Delicate Designs Lace Tape, new products in Stampin' Up!'s Seasonal Catalogue

Oh what fun. Today I made some cards with the new Sweet Threads Simply Sent card kit, and took a trip down memory lane in the process.

Amazingly, given my obsession with papercrafts now, I use to be an avid cross stitcher! I guess many of us dabbled in all kinds of crafts over the years.

I remember visiting Mum's friend, Wendy, who was a huge inspiration. She had a craft collection that I can still picture today, and taught me all about Aida cloth and the artful pursuit of making the back look just like the front.

Thankfully the new Sweet Threads Simply Sent kit by Stampin' Up! is a quick and easy way to got my cross stitch fix. It's one of the great new kits in our Seasonal Catalogue (p22).

Check out what's in the Sweet Threads Simply Sent kit.

Sweet Threads Simply Sent card kit, $22.95 (AUD)

There's enough in there to make 8 completed cards with envelopes – 4 flower and 4 cake cross stitches (paper pattern), dimensionals, embroidery floss and a couple of needles.

I changed my 'cake' slightly, by adding in a few half stitches.

The lace across the background is another new product from the Seasonal Catalogue.

Delicate Details Lace Tape (p3). It's a self-adhesive paper tape! How clever is that!

And because it peels off a backing sheet you can sponge it or stamp it or do anything you want with it!

Here, this image might help to show you what it's like…

Delicate Details Lace Tape

Delicate Details Lace Tape is $16.95 (AUD) and you get TWO different rolls of paper lace tape. I'm SO GLAD it's got adhesive already on it. It can be so fiddly trying to get adhesive on delicate designs like this.

Don't yet have the new Seasonal Catalogue? You can download and save it so you can view it anywhere and everywhere. When you're ready to order just email your shopping list and I'll arrange to get everything you want delivered to your door. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Happy stamping,
