Friendship & Fun: Stampin Up Team Day

Published by under team

Juliana_Simone_polaroid_sLast month we held a Stampin’ Up! Team Day and invited all the members in my group, the EurekaStampers, to come along for some fun.

It was a fabulous day! A great opportunity to catch up with old and new friends, and share our passion for papercrafting.

First up, we watched technique presentations put on by fellow team members. Our MC, Tracy, did an amazing job keeping us entertained as she introduced each of the presenters. Topics included: paper flowers and different ways to use the new Spiral Flower Die; working with vellum; effective uses for offcuts and die cut negatives; tags; how to use different tools; and many more inspirational techniques.

TeamDay

There were plenty of opportunities to learn.

We had a tool table set up where our newer members could try their hand at the envelope punch board, die cutting, the Stamp-a-ma-jig and more. Experienced demonstrators were there to offer a helping hand.

Our resident MDS/My Digital Studio guru, Jessica Williams, hosted an optional class on digital design, which was hugely popular.

The venue was the Holiday Inn at Melbourne Airport, so it was very handy for our interstate team members who flew in for the day. We are spread out all over Australia, so it’s not always easy to meet up in person, although the team forum and other wonders of technology certainly keep us connected.

A few months earlier we had invited the Stampin’ Up! Regional Business Manager to come along and were thrilled when Aaron said yes. We are so grateful that the day fitted in with his busy schedule, and that he could spend some time with us.

TeamDay1

Lunch was a help-yourself buffet supplied by the venue, and after that we spent the afternoon crafting. The make & take kits were in the bag that everyone received at registration – all cut and ready to go – and included a card using the Sale-a-bration Good As Gold kit, a sweet Watercolor Wonder 12×12 scrapbook page and an amazing 3D Card/Box project designed by Maureen. Love it!

One of the highlights for me was the amazing Show & Share display tables.

All attendees were encouraged to bring along a project or two, and the displays were… well, it’s hard to even put it in words. So many amazing, jaw-dropping, incredible creations. It was a feast for the eyes. And soooo inspiring! This day was just the thing many of us needed to get the mojo back, and I know quite a few of us have been creating up a storm since the Team Day.  teamday2

We finished off the day with more prizes, final lucky ticket giveaways and a Q&A session before we packed up and headed home. Counting down the days until our big annual 2014 Stampin’ Up! Convention which is in May.

and this gorgeous group of like-minded Australian crafters.

Check back later this week when I’ll be sharing some of the cards and swaps that were shared on the day. A-mazing.

Team Day Highlights: Birdcage WOW

Published by under 3D projects

Jessica Williams' Birdcage,
made from 100% Stampin' Up! products

Tip: Click images on this site to view full size

Isn't it truly amazing?

Today I'm sharing a paper Birdcage created by Jessica Williams, an incredibly talented papercrafter in our team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators.

Jess was one of the presenters at our recent EurekaStampers Team Day and graciously agreed to share tips on creating 3D Paper Sculptures.

She showed us some gorgeous projects, and at the end presented this birdcage to me as a gift! As you can imagine I was totally speechless.

Here are some close-ups. Apart from the wire to attach the flower, all products used are 100% Stampin' Up!

I actually thought the bird was bought from a shop and was made of foam or ceramic or something.

But no, it's Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper!

The flower is made from cardstock, with the cage panels around the side embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder through the Big Shot.

If you're a regular visitor to my blog you may remember this amazing card that I posted last year, another of Jess's creations. Well worth checking out.

Thank you Jess xx You are amazing!

Happy stamping,

Simone's reminders:

  • The Last Chance List is proving to be a hit with more items selling out. Place your order today to avoid disappointment.

  • Sold out items: Now include Sanded background stamp, Full Calendar background stamp, Bashful Blue & Early Espresso 12×12" packs (these will be back in the next catalogue in a reconfigured format), all eyelets, Spiral punch, Star punch, Photo Corners punch and the Small Oval punch. Team Day Highlights: Flower Folds Die

Published by under Big Shot,Fabrics & Textiles,team

Soft furnishings, hat embellishments, polar fleece blanket embellishments and even paper strawberries. What do these have in common?

Paper Strawberries. Click here for a tutorial.

Ok, so the title of this post gave it away. lol.

They were all made or embellished with the Flower Folds die!

At our recent EurekaStampers team day, Lorinda deRegt-Penn from Bacchus Marsh, Vic. did a very cool presentation that was right up my alley. She reminded us that the fabulous steel ruled Sizzix dies, from Stampin' Up!, are not just for paper and cardmaking/scrapbooking! I love the brooches and hat embellishments and the polar fleece blanket that were also decorated with the help of the Big Shot.

A big hello to all the lovely people who stopped by our stand at the Craft & Quilt Show this weekend in Melbourne. It's been great to see so many familiar faces and of course meet new crafters too. If you've got a spare minute I'd love you to  drop me a line or leave a comment below to say hello.

Happy stamping,

Team Day Highlights: EurekaStampers

Published by under team

Last weekend a contingent of stampers brightened my rainy hometown in regional Victoria, for our biannual EurekaStampers Team Stamping Day.

And it was a fabulous day!

Team Day Highlights

It's always exciting when you get together with other like-minded people, so there was plenty of chatting and sharing of ideas, lots of 'ooohs' and 'aaaahs' were overheard, and plenty of laughter. And I'm still in awe of the amazing talent we had all in one room.

And of course there was lots of yummy food too!

We started the morning with swapping card samples, and an opportunity to have a cuppa as some of the girls had driven for many hours – including interstaters.

During the opening session we did some introductions and some of our demonstrators shared their stories. Others got up on stage and generously shared their talent with us (you'll see more about that over the coming days). And after lunch we all made 4 projects using brand new stamp sets from the upcoming Idea Book & Catalogue. Soooo exciting!

We had a tool table set up so some of our newer demonstrators could have a go at spritzing and wheeling and setting eyelets and crimping.

And we also had a super-long table set up with every colour marker and ink pad and square of cardstock so we could make our own colour charts.

Check back over the coming days for highlights and pictures that will inspire.

And to all those who came on Sunday: thanks for being part of our group, for your positivity and enthusiasm and for following Stampin' Up!'s Statement of the Heart as we love what we do and share what we love.

Inspiration (aka Team Stamping Day Review)

Published by under general chat

Well, it’s taken a few days to update the blog after the HUGE weekend!! An amazing day with my team on Saturday, a workshop with Carly and friends (‘wave’ to the girls) on Sunday followed by a work reunion. Monday gave me the chance to catch up with family in Melbourne. It was a rare opportunity to be in the big smoke on my own so I really made the most of it!

As promised, I’m here to share some of the fun we had on Saturday. What an amazing group of talented, creative, caring, funny and friendly demonstrators I have the privilege of knowing in my downline group of EurekaStampers.

EurekaStampers team day attendees

Thanks to Louise our budding photographer for taking this photo!
Back row: Ali, Anna, Jodie, Lorinda, Deb, Kathy, Simone, Maureen, Tracy, Maree – we can just see her hiding there, Kerri
Front row: Alicia, Wendy, Elissa, Juliana)

We exchanged our swaps first. Some fantastic new ideas and inspiration here….

 Swaps

After a chat and cuppa the very talented Maree from Clunes shared her amazing faux-button technique. Yes, she taught us how to make our own buttons using all Stampin’ Up! products which then make beautiful co-ordinated embellishments for our projects! WOW!

We also saw some great cards for blokes.

Tool Card

Maree provided us with everything needed to make a clever bulldog clip photo stand! This is one of her finished products.

Tracy's brayer demonstrationWe had a yummy shared lunch (complete with stamped serviettes, much to Juliana‘s amusement), and then Tracy Penn from Berwick showed us some very effective brayer techniques.

She created a demo piece, and I had to laugh because it was the rooster stamp that I’ve been struggling to love. Well, the sample piece really caught my eye so I had to take it home. Stay tuned for a future blog post about this!

Maureen Crameri from Camperdown demonstrated a great mini album showcasing the ultrafine SuperNova glitter and heat & stick powder. And we all got to make one! Stunning.

Maureen's Mini Album

Juliana Main demoingJuliana Main (from Vic/NSW border) shared her WOW technique: Pulling Pastels. And it definitely was a WOW! She also gave us some scrapbooking tips to help us cardmakers   It’s true! If you can make a card you really can make a scrap page.

We also had a Tool Table set up. We played with all the tools in the catalogue, including the spritzer (to make a beachy bookmark), wheel guide (mitred corners), cropadile, etc, etc. Another make-&-take was a card from the Simply Sent Card Elements kit.

Finally there was the Punch Deck to make. Who doesn’t Luuuuuurve punches!

Pheww!! What a great day! Do you want to join us next time?

If you’ve been thinking about joining our fab group of papercrafters as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, ask for an obligation-free info pack.  We can get together and have a chat about how it all works.

Oh, just a quick reminder that our All Occassions Stamp-A-Stack is on this Friday July 31st. I can fit in just one more stamper! Email me to snap up the last spot.

Happy stamping,
