Countdown to Retirement

Published by under cards,classes

No, I’m not retiring. LOL

But there’s only a few days left before the official "Retiring List" is released by Stampin’ Up! (approx. March 1st). The List tells us which stamps and accessories won’t be making it to the new catalogue. From previous years’ experience  I can tell you that some of the items sell out almost as soon as the retirement list comes out… especially the In Colours (think ‘re-inkers’)!!!  Sooooo if you are planning on getting something let me know ASAP.

There are just a couple of spots left for next Friday’s Retirement Party class but I’d love to fit you in so contact me and I’ll put your name on the list. We’ll be making an assortment of projects using retiring stamps and accessories. Don’t forget the free grab bag that all attendees will get! Oohh who doesn’t love free stuff! ūüôā  I’ll be back next week with photos of some of the projects we’ll be making (once the retiring list is out), but I CAN tell you that the 12×12 designer series papers will be replaced by a new assortment.

All Designer Series Papers will be retiring to make way for new designs

Until then, here is one of my fave card layouts using papers from the 2008-2009 Idea Book & Catalogue. What a simple yet effective way to put a card together. The only stamping on this card was the sentiment – the rest is part of the Le Jardin paper embellished with items from the Pretties Kit! Too easy.

Have a great day!

Bodacious Bouquet

Published by under cards

This card above might look familiar if you’ve attended one of my classes or workshops in the last week or so. Although the stamp set is different, I’ve used the same layout and colours. This is just another example of using one card as a springboard for a card to create a whole new look.

There’s a post on my old blog here with some more Bodacious Bouquet projects if you want to check them out.

Supplies Used: Bodacious Bouquet Stamp Set (Bushfire Appeal set), Not Quite Navy and Purely Pomegranate ink and cardstock, Bashful Blue textured cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, white taffeta ribbon, versamark and clear embossing powder.

Original Card (right): Polka Dot Punches (free Sale-a-bration stamp set)

GLITTER

Published by under cards

I must have been a magpie in another life because I LOVE shiny¬†things! I’ve always loved the superfine Dazzling Diamond glitter, So I guess it’s no suprise that I’ve fallen in love with Stampin’ Up!’s new chunky glitter and have been using it like mad lately. It’s in the Summer mini catalogue (p15) and comes in¬†a pack of¬†four colours. I¬†was surprised¬†how big the containers are – they should last a while.

I’m having a bit of trouble taking pics of my newest creations (think big stars with chunky blue glitter on white cardstock), but I’d love to share this chunky glitter card that Jenny Myerscough (demo in Rowville, VIC)¬†made for me. Isn’t she talented?!

What to do when the Stamping Mojo is Missing!

Published by under cards,stamping techniques

Ok, so you’ve managed to find some peace and quiet (yes, a feat in itself), your inks and stamps are all set to go, and you are ready for inspiration to strike…. but…. nothing happens! Your stamping mojo has disappeared! What do you do next?

Well, the answer is simple and it’s something I’ve done many times,¬†because my stamping mojo frequently disappears, let me tell you! I grab my Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalogue and flick through it until I see a design that catches my eye. Force yourself to NOT look at the stamp sets (yes, I know it’s hard… but you can do it ūüôā ) Just look at the layouts. Don’t worry if you don’t have the same stamp set, or the same coloured cardstock, or rub ons, or the right ribbon. Trust me, that’s not important for this exercise (and you can always order them from me later LOL¬† *big grin*).

Now, make up the card by swapping the stamps and supplies¬†for what you have available but try to follow the card design/layout as best you can. It’s heaps of fun, and saves you having to ‘think’. It’s just like following a recipe. Within no time at all, you’ll have created something new and¬†your stamping mojo will be back!

Now, just for fun… who can tell me which page I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) these cards from? (Check the current Australian¬†Idea Book & Catalogue). Leave a comment when you’ve worked out which page.¬†

Your turn to have a go! Email me a card that you CASEd/adapted from the IB&C and let me work out where the inspiration came from.

Tomorrow is Australia Day, but I’ll be back on Tuesday to¬†announce an exciting venture for papercraft lovers in the Creswick & District area, to help get you stamping, scrapping & creating,¬†and to enjoy some ‘me time’.

Till then, happy stamping!

Thank You Card. Supplies used: Real Red, Night of Navy cardstock and ink, Whisper White cardstock, Stampin’ Up! rub-on, Eastern Blooms stamp set, Real Red wide grosgrain ribbon, Night of Navy 1/4″ (narrow) grosgrain ribbon, stampin’ dimensionals, Stampin’ Up! brad.

Happy New Year

Published by under cards,general chat

Hello again and happy new year to my visitors! It’s great to be back and crafting again after a wonderful but hectic Christmas and New Year time.

We had a great Christmas. Hope you enjoyed yours! The kids were so excited to open their presents – hearing their squeals of delight was priceless (although 5.50am might have been a *little* early for squeals).

We went to Mum and Dad’s on Christmas morning, and spent the day there with family. Mum put on an amazing feast for us all – she’s truly¬†amazing. Highlights for me were watching the kids opening their family presents outside in the beautiful sunshine, spending time¬†with my sister and her gorgeous boys, and the walk we all went on after lunch.

Our stamp club for January was held on Friday. It was so lovely to see all the ladies again and to spend a bit of time stamping together. We did the Emerging Colour technique (above), using inks, the All In The Stars stamp set, clear embossing powder and the brayer. To finish up they all stamped a 2009 calendar bookmark.

Now a new month and a new Year brings lots of new treats from Stampin’ Up!

January marks the start of one of the highlights on the Stampin’ Up! calendar: Sale-a-bration.¬† Yes, free stamps! It’s the perfect time to book that workshop you’ve been planning to have ūüėȬ†

Do you have a copy of the Sale-a-bration brochure? Shoot me an email and I’ll get one in the post to you.

Happy stamping,

December Stamp Club and Challenges

Published by under 3D projects,cards,challenges

Here are some more projects using beautiful new stamps and Designer Series Paper from the Summer Mini Catalogue. Above is Ginger Blossom DSP and the lovely Embrace Life stamp set (p19).¬† We made these popular little “Bags in a Box” at Stamp Club this month.

¬†The card above¬†is my submission for this month’s EurekaStampers challenge. Juliana challenged us to make a project with a stamp set and coordinating Designer Series Paper from the Summer Mini Catalogue. My version uses Eastern Blooms stamp set with Regal Rose and Choc Chip ink, and the Bali Breeze paper. The card base is Old Olive.

This final card was another of our December Stamp Club projects. The ladies loved Stampin’ Up!’s beautiful watercolour paper – it’s divine to work with, and almost impossibe to make a ‘mistake’. But hey, as¬†I always say there’s no such thing as a mistake, only an opportunity for embellishment.

The card features the For Father stamp set, coloured with markers and a blender pen. Colours include Bordering Blue, Rose Red, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Choc Chip and a couple of shades of gray!

Till next time,
