Sweet Always

Published by under cards,Designer Series paper

These cards feature the yummy Sweet Always DSP (designer series paper).

This is an easy cardmaking technique as it uses up strips of paper, and is very quick and simple. The DSP coordinates perfectly with Choc Chip. Regal Rose, Pumpkin Pie and Pink Pirouette.

Organic Grace

Organic Grace 'Get Well' card

Organic Grace is a beautiful set that is available exclusively to hostesses (it’s a Level 1 hostess set). It’s been really popular too! This week I had a play with it, and discovered that you can make a great variety of cards.

The Get Well card has been created in natural colours from the Earth Elements family: Old Olive, More Mustard and Ruby Red. The sentiment is from Thoughts & Prayers stamp set, which was sponged around the edge then punched out with the new wide oval punch.

Two scallop circles punched from Ruby Red cardstock were joined to create a mat for the Get Well Soon sentiment.

 Hello card

Little Miss 5yo picked the colours for this Hello card – doesn’t it change the whole look of the card! I love this combo of Tempting Turquoise (which I admit I very rarely use!), Rose Red and So Saffron. The scraps were put to use to create these 3×3 inch gift cards below.

Window Dressing

Published by under cards

Happy Easter stampers!

We are just about to head off for our annual camping-in-the-middle-of-nowhere trip. No running water, no electricity, no phone – love it!!! We come home covered in dirt and smelling of campfire smoke, but with a much greater appreciation for all the comforts of home!

A big "Hello" to all the ladies who joined me last weekend for one of the New Catalogue classes. The catalogue is a BIG HIT – the new stamp sets, accessories and In Colours were given a big thumbs up!

The card above is a fun project we made at Stamp Club, and features the gorgeous Level 3 hostess set called Window Dressing (p22 IB&C).

The window was snipped out and layered over a co-ordinating cardstock panel. We coloured the window with markers, mainly Close To Cocoa (same as the cardstock base) and Creamy Caramel. This was all mounted over the separate ‘windows’ with Stampin’ Dimensionals so that it is very 3D in real life. We scored and folded the shutters a little and even colored the back of the shutters with markers for a more finished look.  The sentiment is from Curvy Verses (p116 IB&C). The background stamp is called Weathered, and was stamped in Versamark on the Cocoa card.

This card was heaps of fun to make and kind of reminds me of a treehouse! I’m thinking of doing a Window Dressing class so stay tuned for more details after Easter.

Alma’s version in Barely Banana (above) and Jodie’s in Brocade Blue (below).

Hope you have a lovely Easter!

See you next week.

Pictorial Tutorial: How to Make a Scallop Frame

Published by under cards

Today I thought I'd share a simple technique using punches to create raised 3D frames. You can see one I've used in this Birthday Cheers card.

How to Make a Scallop Frame (or any shape, for that matter!)

Punch a 1 3/8" circle from your cardstock

Save the punched circle for another project. This time we need to work on the negative space!

Turn your scallop circle punch over and insert cardstock from Step 1. Line it up carefully so that the empty circle is in the exact middle. Punch!

Turn your scallop circle punch upside-down and insert cardstock from Step 1. Line it up carefully so that the empty circle is in the exact middle. Punch!

And here you have the frame. Add tiny pieces of Stampin' Dimensionals around the frame and layer it over a stamped image for a great 3D effect.

Hope you've enjoyed my first little Pictorial Tutorial!

See you soon,

Sneak Peek

Published by under cards

The release of the new catalogue is just around the corner, so I couldn’t resist teasing you with some new stamps and In Colours LOL. Having a sneak peek at the catalogue and access to new goodies is definitely a greak perk of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator!!

(Above) Fresh Cuts stamp set and Fresh Cut Notes die-cut cards. Here I’ve used the new Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red.

This one is from an Aussie stamp set called Bloom Away. Hubby’s family are all in the UK so this set will come in handy for us. There are 3 native flowers in the set: waratah, gum blossoms and banksia. It’s Mothers Day in the UK this Sunday so I sent off the banksia card I made but forgot to take a photo.

Well that’s it for today. I better go… I think my new stamps are calling me.

A quick hi to all the lovely ladies who joined in the class on Friday night. We made a number of projects using all retiring sets. It was a great night so thanks again for coming!

Oh and a quick reminder that I’m taking bookings for the VERY EXCITING next class where you’ll get to try out some NEW goodies from the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalogue (yet to be released). It’s on Sunday 5th April. $15,  which includes a FREE copy of the new catalogue!!!

I’ve had a little peek at some of the new rubbah we’ll be getting next month and all I can say is yuuuummmmyyyyy. (Have I mentioned I love little birds??)

Cheers,
