CTC 286: Balmy Blue Glimmer Card

Published by under cards | Sep 27 2020

This weekend I’m crafting with the ‘CASE-ing the Catty’ Crew as we take inspiration from the Stampin’ Up! catalogues and bring you another CASE-ing The Catty challenge (CASE = Copy and Selectively Edit).

This time we turn to the mini catalogue and all those fabulous leaf and tree projects.

My inspiration came from this card on page 43…

I mixed up the colour scheme and the theme, but kept the general layout and also the gold hoop. The stamp set used is Butterfly Wishes.

You may notice the gold hoop embellishment is not gold anymore.

I coloured it with the . Love how these alcohol markers works on metal, plastic and glass as well as ribbon and cardstock.

I absolutely adored playing with the new Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper. What a gorgeous product that definitely needs to be in every craft room! Love love love.

A little piece of glimmer paper goes a long way. Although the panel is 10.5cm x 14.5cm, I cut the centre out to use on another project.

This saves ‘wasting’ the glimmer paper which would otherwise be covered by the feature panel, and it also makes the card a little bit lighter and less ‘front heavy’.

The multicoloured butterfly was created using the stamp positioning tool.

I first inked the stamp up in , and then using a added some black ink to the stamp just around the edges and body, before closing the plate and pressing firmly. You can build a depth of colour using this technique, and the result is a bold and striking image.

The butterfly was then cut it out with sharp .

Would you like to have a go at this week’s challenge? To join in, all you have to do is make a project inspired by one of the LEAF OR TREE PROJECTS in the mini catalogue. Then simply take a photo of your project and upload it to the CASEing The Catty Challenge group on Facebook. Each challenge will end at 7pm (AEST) on the Saturday before the next challenge is posted. We pick some winners but most importantly it’s a fun way to get out of your creative comfort zone and try something new.

Never occurred to me to colour in the hoop – and it looks amazing! The colouring of the butterfly is stunning. The whole thing works so well together, a really beautiful card, Simone.

Your card is stunning! The butterfly is absolutely gorgeous. I never would have thought of adding black to a butterfly, but it looks amazing. Great idea to colour the hoop, too!
