CTC 51 Stampin’ Up! Wonderland
Hi friends,
I’m back for this week’s CASE-ing the Catty blog hop (now on Sundays!). You may have joined me from Alison’s blog or you may be starting here. Either way, continue hopping around the links for inspiration and ideas. The theme this week is the Winter Wonderland section on pages 22-27 of the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue.
With our Christmas being in the middle of summer here in Australia, we don’t find much in the way of snow. But we do love our trees! And living in a forestry area like I do, the Wonderland stamp set jumped out at me straight away.
My inspiration came from the card sample on page 22 of the 2015 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue (image on the right).
That tree stamp is sooooo beautiful, I’m sure I would buy the set just for that stamp! But the other stamps are a great bonus too.
Here is my creation which was inspired by the cards in the catalogue.
The word Merry is a die from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits dies. Jolly and Peace also come in the set of three festive words.
The Snowflake Elements and Gold Cording Trim was in the original card on page 22, and add just the right touch to this clean and simple card.
In the sample in the catalogue, the area under the trees had been masked so that a clean straight line was created. I was inspired to try my hand at masking too, but tried something a little different. The area under the trees was created by sponging around the top edge of a torn ‘post-it note’ which was my mask. I moved it slightly down and sponged lightly again, repeating this step until I had the look I was after.
I ended up making a few different cards, all inspired by the lovely catalogue sample. In fact, we even made one of them in my recent classes as we talked about masking and stamping-off. This stamp set lends itself to quite a good assortment of fun techniques!
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project. Be sure to hop on over to visit Julia Quinn and her lovely creations. If you lose track at any point, you are welcome to visit the CASE-ing The Catty blog for all the links.
Happy stamping,
Lovely, fresh, clean cards, Simone. the gold cord on the snowflake is a nice finish.
I’ve been using a lot of gold lately! It has definitely made a comeback lately. 😉 Thanks for your lovely comment.

I too love all 3 of these cards Simone. The landscape one is a great version. I love that with a bit of gold, these trees become really magical.

Lovely, clean and stunning cards as usual Simone. You have really showcased the stamp set and I adore how you’ve finished them off with some masking and sponging. Very effective. I must give this technique a try.
This is so GORGEOUS Simone!!! The masked sponging looks amazing! Love this card so much!
Oh, I love your version of these cards. That sponging looks amazing. And I love the gold Merry. I think I’ll be caseing you. xoxo
Your cards look amazing and the masking at the bottom just lifts the card.
