This week on the Case-ing the Catty Blog Hop, the team are inspired by the gorgeous Christmas trees in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue. From the tiny tree stamps in Jingle All The Way, to the awesome Project Life stamp sets, and even to the many delightful designs on the patterned papers… we have such a fabulous selection!
I couldn’t help combining a couple of my favourites: the tree from and the .
Shhh, I may have even sneaked in Lovely As a Tree, yes that old classic which has been around forever but is still a favourite with many new stampers. Just for old times sake 😉
Here is my creation this week…
It’s sooooo hard to capture on photo, but the red is actually Red Foil paper. So shiny! It’s all set on a 5″x5″ card base made from . A layer of and a layer of grid patterned paper from the . The top left and bottom right corners are in matching Kraft.
No matter how many times I look through the catalogue I always pause on pages 16 and 17. The tags on this tree stop me every time.
And this is where much of the inspiration came for this week’s card, including:
- the colour combination – with the festive Real Red, the neutrals of Crumb Cake/Kraft, the blues of Lost Lagoon/Marina Mist and a touch of yellow in Daffodil Delight
- the die cut ‘merry’ in Real Red cardstock
- the Candy Dot tree embellishments
A really cool feature of the is that some of the dies cut decorative inner details, not just the outline. It’s almost like 2-step die cutting!
One of the dies achieves a fringing look to the tree branches, and another cuts out circles to look like ornaments on the tree. A third decorative detail die (see above) cuts out a series of tiny holes within the tree to look like a line of tinsel or lights. And that’s the one I used on on my card!
Along the rows of tiny holes I threaded the lovely Gold Cording Trim.
It kind of gets lost in the photo, but in real life it’s lovely and sparkly, especially set against the shiny Red Foil paper. It’s the closest I’ve come to sewing in recent months! Hopefully you can see my ‘sewing’.
So there you go. I hope you enjoyed this ‘tree edition’ of Case-ing the Catty, but the fun is not over yet. Next stop on the hop is Stasia.
Happy stamping,

This collage card is really clever! It’s nice to see lovely as a tree, but the feature tree and baubles make it so ‘Christmassy’ and then you’ve added more. Think I’ll need to pin this one for another look, Simone. Thanks for the inspiration!
So many details Simone. Your card is lovely and beautifully balanced between shiny and mat with the foil and the Kraft. I love your stitching on the tree – it’s perfect.
I totally LOVE the sewing! What a great idea!! It’s so good to see our products used in different ways!! This is a gorgeous card!
This is so pretty…..I love the candy dots adorning the tree. 🙂
All those textures are gorgeous, Simone! Stunning card.
Thank you Helen!
What a gorgeous card!! I love it. And you sewed on a card, I am impressed!!
I know, right?! I have a whole stash of sewing repairs that need a little attention but they’ll have to wait. lol
