CTC 95: Stampin’ Up! Home Sweet Home

CASE-ing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop

I’m SO excited about this week’s theme! The brief was “CASE your favourite holiday catalogue 3D item”.

Oh. my. goodness. Where do you start? There are sooooo many lovely 3D projects to choose from.

But in the end there could be only one. The item that made me gasp with excitement when I saw it the very first time I look at this catty:

Stampin' Up! Home Sweet Home bundle

Seriously how adorable is that little Welcome house made with the Home Sweet Home bundle of stamp sets and thinlit dies. I love the gingerbread one too, but oh I just couldn’t wait to recreate this one with the ‘weatherboards’ and cute little windows.

Mine is super simple, but I played around with a few different versions of roofing and thought I’d share them with you today.

You need 5 or 6 rows of die cut ’tiles’ for each side, or you can you use cardstock trimmed to 5.2cm wide or trimmed to the shape of the roof line.

If you have a bit of trouble getting a nice and neat join where the roof tiles meet in the middle, then try trimming a 2cm x 5.2cm piece of cardstock which is scored in the middle and fit it over the join.

Also, a teeny tiny pearl from the Rhinestone makes a lovely door handle.

The Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate is also an effective roof material.CTC 95: Stampin' Up!'s Home Sweet Home with acetate window roof

Tip: Don’t forget to first remove the thin protective film when using these acetate sheets.

Another option is embossing a cardstock panel and layering it over the roof line. Play around with different embossing folders and sponging effects to see what you come up with!

This house was so cute I couldn’t just stop at one!

In fact I made a whole series of them which I’ll be sharing in the days ahead. But for now, let’s continue on with the CTC Blog Hop and see what the lovely Liz has for us today.
