Christmas in July with A Stitched Season

Welcome to the July IDEAS Tutorial Bundle Blog Hop!

This month’s theme is Holidays, which gave our international design team plenty of room to play. You might see projects inspired by annual celebrations, Christmas in July, vacations or another creative interpretation of the theme.

I decided to go with Christmas in July and give one of my favourite fun folds a festive makeover using new products released this month.

A Different Spin on a Favourite Fold

My project for this month is a Concertina Step Fold Card featuring the new Stitched Stocking stamp set and A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper. These fabulous products are part of the newly released July Online Exclusives.

This fold is such a fun one to open. From the outside, it looks like a traditional card tied neatly with ribbon. Open it up and the concertina insert expands into a series of decorated steps.

It has plenty of room for patterned paper, embossed cardstock, greetings and small decorative images, without the finished card feeling cluttered.

I have made this fold before, but changing the papers and theme gives it a completely different personality. That is one of the things I enjoy most about returning to a favourite design. You already understand how the fold works, so you can focus on playing with the colours, products and decorative details.

For the card front, I used a patchwork-style arrangement of designs from the A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper. I also fussy-cut some of the smaller images and raised them with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A length of Real Red and White Stitched Ribbon wraps around the card and ties at the bottom to keep everything neatly closed.

Inside, each level of the concertina has been decorated with patterned paper or embossed cardstock.
