My name is Simone, and I live in Regional Victoria. I am married with a son and two daughters, and am fortunate to run a business right across Australia, while still being at home for my family when needed. I have been a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator here in Australia for 10 amazing years.
After studying and working at Monash University (Linguistics Dept), I moved into the publishing industry. After several years and a successful career in publishing, and with a young family, I returned to studies and completed my graduate teaching qualifications. It was during this time that I discovered my passion… for papercrafting!
In the beginning
In 2007 I went to a workshop at my sister’s house to ‘make cards’. I had never picked up a stamp, and had lots of preconceived ideas about rubber stamps and what they could and couldn’t do!
I soon discovered that rubber stamping and papercrafting is an incredibly versatile, enjoyable and practical art form. And just a teeny bit addictive too!
It wasn’t long before I joined up as a demonstrator and then the fun really began.
Stampin’ Up! makes it easy
I love having a hobby and creative outlet, and stamping is perfect for that.
What I love most about Stampin’ Up! is how everything is coordinated – the colours, the stamps, the accessories, everything! It really makes it easy to focus on the craft, and not spend time and effort trying to match colours and accessories. It couldn’t be easier. In fact the papercrafting community is very generous, with the practice of CASEing (copy & share everything, with acknowledgements of course) happily embraced. And with amazing resources on social media – like Pinterest – it’s never too hard to find ideas.
After joining Stampin’ Up! I also discovered there was a whole world of obsessed papercrafters just like me! I have met so many wonderful people since I joined. New customers, fellow demonstrators and new team members quickly became new friends.
In my first year as a demonstrator I welcomed eight demonstrators directly to my team – and many more have joined since then. I can hardly believe there are around 200 of us now! I love being the cheerleader and mentor of the gorgeous EurekaStampers (our team).
Since becoming a demonstrator ‘just for the hobby’ I’ve earned many sales, recruiting and leadership awards. I was honoured to be in the Top 2 for Leadership Awards for three years, and have held ranks in the Top 25 Demonstrators of the Year, and Top 10 in Australia. Most recently, at our 2017 annual awards, I was announced as one of the Top 100 demonstrators in the world (out of 50,000).
It’s what you want it to be
I’m grateful to have qualified for the all-expenses-paid Incentive Trips to Alaska, Thailand, Europe and a Mediterranean Cruise, Hawaii, a Caribbean Cruise, Utah (and Las Vegas), Broome, Fiji and Hamilton Island, all thanks to the wonderful generosity of Stampin’ Up!, a fabulous team and loyal customers.
I now view this as much more than a hobby. This is my passion, my business and the thing I **still** do for the love of it.
Each of the demonstrators in our team had different reasons for joining the Stampin’ Up! family – some to save money, some to make money, and some to do both!
Regardless of the kind of demonstrator we are, we all enjoy inspiring each other through our online team forum, group swaps and getting together to stamp. The OnStage training days, team stamping get-togethers and online forum chats and virtual parties are some of the most fun because they combine stamping and friends. What more could a girl want?
