Cardmaking classes in Ballarat & Creswick, Central Victoria

Published by under cards | Sep 16 2015

It’s finally here! The updated list of Christmas cardmaking classes in Ballarat and Creswick, through until the end of the year. I have been teaching papercraft classes here for 8 years (where has the time gone?) and am excited about the new events we’ve got planned.

Classes are usually held in Creswick, but I may be moving some of these classes into Ballarat so the venue will be confirmed at the time of booking. Email me for booking enquiries.

I hope to see you at a class soon.

Download class schedule

[Edited: Sorry, no spots left for class on 17/9/15. And we are now holding a craft sale/garage sale on October 17. Contact me for details.]

Classes are suitable for all experience levels. If you are new to rubber stamping or cardmaking, let me know and I will be sure to provide extra help.

Our class sizes are small and friendly, and you will be guaranteed a warm welcome.

If you prefer one-on-one classes, let me know as I also offer this service. These can be held in my classroom, or I can visit you in your own home and bring the craft projects to you – perfect for those with mobility issues.

I love crafting and enjoy it even more when sharing it with friends, so I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful time together. Best of all: everything is included in these classes. You don’t need to bring anything at all, except a smile.

Booking enquiries.

Happy stamping,

CTC 47 – Oh What Fun Tag Kit Cards

Published by under cards | Sep 11 2015

Welcome! I’m so excited to be a brand new member of the CASE-ing the Catty Crew. These guys deliver gorgeous creations in the form of a blog hop every Friday, and use the pages of the Stampin’ Up! catalogues for inspiration. CASEing = Copy & Share Everything.

You may have arrived from Elizabeth‘s blog or directly from the CASE-ing the Catty website.

For my regular readers, I have no doubt you will love hopping around the loop each week and seeing all the great ideas. What a perfect way to start the weekend!

Let’s Kit Together

This week’s theme is ‘Let’s Kit Together’, and we’re looking at the ready-to-go kits on pages 4 – 7 of the new Holiday Catalogue for inspiration. This gave me the perfect excuse to get up close with the Oh What Fun Tag Project Kit.

Holiday15_p05_a

There are enough supplies in this kit to make three each of 10 different tags.

I had an idea that I’d like to convert some of the tags to full cards. And this is what I ended up with.Cards with the Oh What Fun Tag Project kit by Stampin' Up!. The kit + a pack of notecards = lots of quick cards!

I used a variety of different Christmas stamp sets for the greetings.

Isn’t it great how different fonts really change the ‘feel’ of a card? From traditional to casual, formal to relaxed. True confessions: I do have a secret ‘thing’ for fonts.

Here are some of the cards up close (you can always click on the images to enlarge).

Tis The Season card. Made with the Oh What Fun tag project kit by Stampin' Up! + Crumb Cake notecard.

I used the Crumb Cake Note Cards & Envelopes as the card base. What a quick and easy way to make a stack of cards.

Merry Christmas card. Made with the Oh What Fun tag project kit by Stampin' Up! + Crumb Cake notecard.

And the card front is embossed with the new Softly Falling embossing folder.

A few extra embellishments like red foil sheets (above) and silver satin ribbon (below) add to the fun.

Merry Christmas card - Made with the Oh What Fun tag project kit by Stampin' Up! + Crumb Cake notecard. The note cards and envelopes are perfect for this project, and I love that they are pre-scored and ready to go. A perfect match for these kits.

So what do you think? I’m loving this kit – for tags and cards.

Thanks to the CTC Crew for inviting me to play along.

And now I’m thrilled to bits to hand you on to the next blogger on our hop… the a-maz-ing Jessica Williams. Yes, she really is amazing!

Stampin’ Up! Australia Christmas Holiday Catalogue

Published by under cards | Sep 01 2015

Stampin' Up! Australia - Christmas Holiday Catalogue. Available from www.simonebartrum.com.

Spring has sprung!

And so has the new 2015 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue.

Fifty pages of festive fun, new products, punches, kits and more.

It’s time to shake off the winter blues… Christmas is on the way.

.

I am giddy over this one. It would have to include the best range of products I’ve seen in years.

In fact, many of those new products immediately jumped on to my wish list.

Two thumbs up for this catalogue.

.Top 6 Picks for Christmas. Simone's favourites from the 2015 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue.

MY TOP FIVE, no make that SIX, PICKS from the new HOLIDAY CATALOGUE

Almost impossible to stick to five favourites from this catalogue – or six – but we’ll give it a go…

.
The 'To You and Yours Shaker Frame Cark Kit' in the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalogue. Each page has silver foil on the card base. # In no particular order!

  1. The To You and Yours Shaker Cards Project Kit on page 4. Having made up these cards, I can honestly say I LOVE how they look. Great quality, nice thick card bases, and I love the shiny foil on the cards. You can’t tell from the tiny picture in the catalogue, but each card base has strips of silver running through the design on the front and backs of the cards. Gorgeous. They have been generous with the supplies too, so you’ll have plenty of sequins, chunky glitter and die cut pieces left over at the end. And no you don’t HAVE to get the stamp set on the bottom of page 4 to make up the cards, although it looks great if you do and it’s a handy set to have. Would love to be able to buy those line strips of ‘Dimensionals’ used to line the shaker frames. They make it so easy to put the shaker frames together.
Make a hearth using the window piece from the Hearth & Home Thinlits dies. Stampin' Up!. .
  2. The Hearth and Home Thinlits dies on page 11 (and images on page 10). Yes, I’m a sucker for a good ‘die’. And how fantastic that you can cut out the window frame cross bars and – voila – it becomes a fireplace.
Seriously… that is genius right there.
    .
  3. The Sleigh Ride Edgelits dies on page 12. These are just sooooo cute. Yes, they are a little fiddly to work with, with all those delicate little shapes, so if fiddly is not your thing then these might not appeal. But the delicate shapes is what makes these edgelits so gorgeous.
    .
  4. The Embellished Ornaments bundle on page 15. Enough said. Love love love. This is the bundle that featured on our recent Fancy Fold card. What’s not to love? The Peaceful Pines bundle could have easily snuck into this spot too.
    MakingSpiritsBright.
  5. Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on page 39. I love that this is an oversized square folder, so it will work with cards in the landscape or portrait orientation. Thank you Stampin’ Up!. That has been on my wish list for a long time. Such a beautiful design, too.
    .
  6. Fine-Tip Glue Pen on page 43. This has CHANGED my life! No kidding. One of the smallest items, tucked away on the bottom corner of the page, I didn’t even notice it until someone else pointed it out to me. And yes, I know it’s not the most glamorous item. But wowowowowowow it is the best EFineTipGlueNameVER. You can perfectly position sequins and carefully place die-cut words, without any gooey overflow. You can even write words with it and sprinkle ultra-fine glitter over the top (see pic on the right, I wrote my name with the glue then added gold glitter). No need to squeeze. And the needle in the tip to prevent clogging is just the bees-knees. You can watch a video about this new Fine-Tip Glue Pen here.

My favourites from the new Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue: I just love them all

You can view all the new products in one convenient section of my online store.
