You Can Create It – International: Come To Gather

Published by under cards

Every month a little packet of papercraft supplies becomes the basis of our challenge with the You Can Create It – International (YCCI) team. Our mission is to turn those elements into a card, or gift packaging, or some other finished project.

The October kit included:

  • 2 pieces of 4″ x 6″ Come To Gather designer series paper
  • half A4 sheet of Mint Macaron cardstock (21cm x 14.8cm)
  • half A4 sheet of Whisper White cardstock (21cm x 14.8cm)
  • 50cm Braided Linen Trim

Extra supplies were included in the quarterly kit but I only used the Shimmery Crystal Effects on my card. Other items included a A4 sheets of Pretty Peacock and Night of Navy cardstock, white and vanilla envelopes, and a sheet of Thick Whisper White cardstock.

I’m so excited that this was my first quarter of sending out these packs to my lucky YCCI subscribers. I only had a limited number available for this first offering, and they all sold!

If you were one of the lucky ones to get a bundle, I’d love to see what you made! For inspiration, just scroll on down and see what our international design team made with these same supplies.

If you are interested in adding your name to the list for the Jan-March mail out, let me know by email here.

Come to Gather Card

This is the card I made with the supplies in my pack. Just a cute and simple card, with a Mint Macaron base and the pattern pieces from the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper pack.

I also used the stamps and dies from the sweet Friend Like You bundle, which includes the Friend Like You stamp set and the Friendly Silhouettes dies. Inks used were Merry Merlot and versamark.

You Can Create It – International: Fancy Fold Tutorial

Published by under cards

Every month a little packet of papercraft supplies becomes the basis of our challenge with the You Can Create It – International (YCCI) team. Our mission is to turn those elements into a card, or gift packaging, or some other finished project.

The September kit included:

  • half A4 sheet of Merry Merlot cardstock (10.5cm x 29.7cm)
  • half A4 sheet of Rococo Rose cardstock (10.5cm x 29.7cm)
  • 6″x12″ Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper
  • 40cm Gathered Ribbon – Rococo Rose

Extra supplies were included in the quarterly kit but I didn’t need them this month. They included a couple of A4 sheets of Soft Suede cardstock, a copper dotted treat bag, a sheet of ‘Fluid 100′ watercolour paper and a full bottle of Stampin’ Mist stamp cleaner.

Fancy Fold Card

The cardstock pieces were long and narrow, so I immediately wanted to make some kind of interesting ‘fold’. I little experimenting with the Simply Scored board and Metric Scoring Plate resulted in this….

The two long pieces of cardstock were scored (see measurements below) and overlaid together so there are fold-out flaps on both sides.

And when it’s closed and the ribbon tied it looks like this…

Would you like to have a go at making this card?

Instructions

  1. Cut and score Merry Merlot cardstock

    Trim cardstock to 10.5cm x 28cm, score at 14cm and 21cm

  2. Cut and score Rococo Rose cardstock

    Trim cardstock to 10cm x 20.5cm, score at 13.5cm

  3. Overlay the two scored panels and adhere together

  4. Fold panels

    Refer to image

  5. Add 40cm ribbon around card
Use leftover Rococo Rose panel for front of card

  6. Embellish as desired

Add Designer Series Paper and stamped images

I’m sure you agree there are some fabulous ideas here! Who would have thought you can get so much from cardstock, paper and ribbon?

A big thank you to my brand new YCCI subscribers! Last month I launched Australian subscriptions for the October-December round at the special price of $19.95 and the response was amazing! As promised, the three months worth of kits will be sent out to you by October 15, so you’ll be able to join the YCCI crafty challenges over the next three months.
Did you miss registering? I have just a couple of spare kits but you’ll need to contact me ASAP so we can get you in for this quarter.

Every month a little packet of papercraft supplies becomes the basis of our challenge. Our mission is to turn those elements into a card, or gift packaging, or some other finished project.

This is what I made with my supplies.

A little bit of die cutting and stamping added some interesting elements.

It’s a little difficult to see in the photo, but the stitched frame has been die cut from the Silver Foil paper, and a narrow 1cm strip of silver paper is underneath the bakers twine.
