CTC 81: Birthdays – Confetti Celebration meets Blooms & Bliss

Published by under General

CASE-ing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop

Hi friends, It’s great to be back with the CTC crew again. I really missed creating while I was away on our big trip, so it was a joy to be back in the craft room this week.

This week we are CASEing (copy & sharing) from pages 10 to 25 of the new annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue.

Its all about one of our favourite card making topics. BIRTHDAYS!

You may have joined me from Monique’s blog, or you can start here. Either way, just keep hopping around and you’ll see lots of lovely projects to inspire you.

Haven’t seen the catalogue yet? Download it here.

Let’s get straight to the card:

CCTC81: Confetti Celebration stamp set meets Blooms & Bliss designer series paper. Check it out at www.simonebartrum.com (June 2016).

I was inspired by the layout of a card on page 10. Here it is on the left:

inspirationCTC81

I used some of the new papers and accessories that I was lucky enough to get last week on the Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip, namely the pretty Blooms and Bliss designer series paper and the new In Color Doilies (see above).

The stamp set used is the one on page 12, called Confetti Celebration. What a great set! I love the adorable row of lights which you could fill with bright colours, or just use them as a subtle background using Versamark ink like I’ve done here. The balloon and star are also versatile images. And of course the sentiments and happy birthday messages are always handy.

I can see that I’ll be using this set a lot.

Faux Mosaic Technique

Published by under General

Today we have a card that features the Faux Mosaic technique which I learnt from watching a Stampin’ Up! DVD for demos called “Workshop Wows”. I just had to try it! You can’t tell from the photo, but in between the mosaic pieces is sparkling Dazzling Diamonds glitter – it really shimmers in the light.

The technique is created by first taking a piece of adhesive-backed paper (such as sticker paper). Peel off the backing paper, and carefully place your pieces of paper ’tiles’ – yes, this is a great one for using up all those tiny pieces of paper you’ve been saving!

Next, sprinkle gold or silver embossing powder over the sticker paper – it will adhere to the gaps between the tiles. Heat emboss for an amazing effect, then trim the piece as desired and use to embellish your cards or scrap projects. Or instead of embossing powder, use glitter as I have for this one.

It certainly is a Wow IRL (in real life).  I made this one for a very talented Stampin’ Up! demo and gorgeous lady…  Happy birthday Juliana!

Project Inspirations

Published by under General

We had a great time at our group stamping day last week with a wonderful bunch of ladies – it’s so much fun to look at new ways of doing things, see how different colour combinations work, and learn new techniques. I came away from it inspired to try new projects, and grateful for new friendships made.

Thank you so much to the ladies who came to share and learn and stamp!

I’ll be back tomorrow with some new projects, along with my best ever tip on what you should do if you’ve lost your creative mojo!

Let’s Sale-a-brate

Published by under General

Haven’t I been a bad blogger! Can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post. Well, in my defence I have been busy planning a special stamping day (details below) and it is school holidays. Hmmm, enough said! 😉

First up, here’s a few projects I made with the beeeeeuuuuutiful Sale-a-bration stamp sets. The more I play with them, the more I love them!

Now this weekend will be very special as I’m having many of the wonderful Stampin’ Up! demonstrators in my group over for a stamping day. Woo hooo. Now, that sounds like fun! Our team has been growing over the past few months, so a few of the ladies I’ll be meeting for the first time. I’m soooo looking forward to it, and have been planning lots of fun things for us to do. It’s going to be very hands-on, that’s for sure!

Don’t forget, now is the perfect time to order the Stampin’ Up! demonstrator starter kit. The starter kit is normally great value at over $560 worth of goodies for only $324.  But until the end of February you can also choose another stamp set (to $79.95 value) for FREE!  There are loads of benefits in joining up – obviously free or cheap craft supplies is the big one, but attending one of our stamping functions has got to be up there pretty high! LOL.

Stamping with friends. Priceless.

Christmas Birthday Wishes

Published by under General

(Photo removed)

Today is the birthday of a wonderfully talented stamper and friend who I’m very proud to say is one of my team members. I wanted to make her a special card, but I took so long making it that I didn’t send it early enough and I suspect it got caught up in all the Christmas mail. Happy Birthday Maureen! On this card I’ve used the Infinite Goodness stamp set (free Level 2 hostess set) and Curvy Verses, watercolour paper and the Rose Red Prints Designer Series paper. The new 1" wide double-stitched Rose Red ribbon features here, which is only available in the current Summer mini catalogue (p20). I love using Rose Red so it’s wonderful to have a ribbon that matches the cardstock, paper and ink perfectly. Layered on top is the moss tafetta ribbon, which unfortunately doesn’t photograph too well but looks great in real life. The large scallop rectangle was made with the Scallop Edge punch. I followed this great tutorial to match up the scallops so there is one in each corner of the layer. It was fun to make something non-Christmasy, even though I looooove this festive time of year. Two more sleeps until Santa’s here!
