How To: ‘Timeless Portrait’ Framed Art

Published by under 3D projects,Designer Series paper | Aug 14 2012

Today's share project is a decorated picture frame with an embellished insert panel.

Read on for a quick tutorial.

This project was the basis of a class I taught last month at Melbourne's Craft & Quilt Fair. My first foray into craft show classes!

How To:

1. Remove back of picture frame, and cut Designer Series Paper (DSP) to fit the size of your frame.

2. Embellish DSP as desired – we used Basic Jewel Rhinestones so it was very 'blingy' in real life.

3. Stamp images from Pennant Parade (p37 Aus/NZ Idea Book & Catalogue), and punch with the Pennant Builder punch. Layer, and join pennant pieces with Bakers Twine.

4. Tie or adhere banner into position. Our frame had a gap of approx 2cm between the back and the glass, so we had plenty of room for raised embellishments and lots of Dimensionals. Remember to take into account how much space you have behind the glass before sticking everything down.

5. Adhere DSP panel to back of frame (to stop it sagging behind the glass) and reassemble frame.

6. Decorate outer frame with paper flowers, rosettes or punched shapes. We put tiny adhesive-backed rhinestones in the centre of our flowers – for added sparkle!

TIP: This project is a great way to use beautiful papers with large, bold images, such as those found in Timeless Portrait.

Remember that all the Designer Series Papers in the current catalogue are retiring at the end of the month, so this is your last chance to get them.

Well, craft fair season is well and truly upon us here in Victoria.

A big hello to all the lovely crafters I met last month at the Craft & Quilt Fair in Melbourne, and in only TWO WEEKS we'll be at Paperific!

I'll be there on SATURDAY 1st of SEPT. Come and say hello!

Happy stamping,

Surprise!

Published by under general chat | Aug 13 2012

No stamping in today's post, but definitely stamping-related.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I just got the hugest surprise of my life when this amazing box was delivered.

I quite literally have never received anything like this in my life (and made the poor delivery lady check to see if she got the right house!). Even the kids were speechless for a few seconds.

And inside was the most incredible display of roses, lilies and chocolates. And you wouldn't believe who they were from…

… the team at Stampin' Up!

Inside was a beautiful note recognising a promotion I had last month, but I was a bit teary so it took a while to read it properly. lol

Just want to say – again – what an amazing company Stampin' Up! is. The Demonstrator Support girls are so thoughtful, they love cheering us on and really look after their demonstrators!

A HUGE and very heartfelt thanks to our Stampin' Up! South Pacific team.

It's been an amazing and very fun 4 years & 11 months and I can't wait to see where the next few years will take us.

xx

More on Melbourne’s Heartfelt Event

Published by under events | Aug 11 2012

Wow – what an amazing start to August! Sooo much excitement with the huge Retired List sale and sneak peeks of upcoming catalogues.

I ALWAYS love being a demonstrator, but at times like these I know I HAVE TO be one!

AusPost delivered some lovely BIG boxes filled with the yummiest new products and new catalogues – the best ever! Getting new stuff early is definitely yet another perk to being a demonstrator.

I have to share a couple more happy snaps from last weekend's Heartfelt Stampin' Event in Melbourne.

This was probably one of my favourite projects of the day. Kathryn Ruddick's gorgeous scrap page (thanks for letting me share this here Kathryn).

Stunning.

And this card by Andrea Stork totally blew me away. * Sigh *. Such creativity.

Juliana Main was demo'ing all the WOW things you can do with a certain type of new and ama-a-a-a-zing cardstock (you'll find out on 1st Sept!)… very cool.

And, finally, here's another project I showed during my Gift Wrapping & Packaging presentation:

Early Espresso tulle flower with Vintage brad, and pop-up tag

Almost 20 items have sold out already from this month's huge 'Retiring Products' sale. But the great news is there are still plenty of bargains to be had.

My newsletter subscribers would have seen my version of the Retiring List Highlights – which included some of the biggest discounts on the most loved products. [Subscribe here]

But seriously… 75% off the Candy Cane Christmas designer fabric?  Was $19.95 now $4.95. Oh my. I LOVE this fabric.

Same deal for the gorgeous Deck The Halls designer fabric.

Embellished Deck The Halls tea towel made by fellow team member Lorinda. Click to enlarge.

This makes me fall in love with the Deck The Halls fabric all over again.

Ok, this turned into an epic post! Thanks for sticking with me… feel free to make my day by leaving a comment  🙂

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and happy stamping,
