CTC 217: The Good Things

Published by under cards | Feb 23 2019

What’s CASE-ing The Catty? CASE stands for “Copy And Share Everything”. It means we use the ideas and inspiration from one project and apply them to another to create something altogether new. Each Sunday evening at 7pm AEST/8pm AEDT the CTC Crew kick off a new Challenge using the Stampin’ Up! catalogues as inspiration.

This week’s ‘CASEing The Catty’ Sunday Challenge has us looking at pages 24-33 of the latest Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalogue.

These pages feature dozens of great cards, gift packaging and even scrapbook pages.

I was inspired by the bright and bold box on the bottom of page 24.

In particular, I was inspired by some of the design elements including the central vertical ribbon, the bow at the top, patterned background and the central image/sentiment.

Using those design elements, I made this:

This card features a Basic Gray card base, a panel from the Petal Promenade designer series paper pack (still a favourite), a sentiment from the Butterfly Gala stamp set and pretty Petal Pink/Whisper White variegated ribbon. A panel of vellum adds some softness.

Would you like to have a go at this week’s challenge? To join in, you can either directly CASE (Copy and Share Everything) or use a sketch/layout, colour combination or something similar, as inspiration for your own creation. Then simply take a photo of your project and upload it to the latest challenge album in the CASEing The Catty Challenge group on Facebook. Each challenge will end at 7pm (AEST) on Saturday before the next challenge is posted. We pick some winners each week, but most importantly it’s a fun way to get out of your creative comfort zone and try something new.

Happy stamping,

A Little Hello with Butterflies

Published by under cards | Feb 12 2019

Card featuring Stampin' Up!'s butterfly elements and Botanical Butterfly paper

You know, it’s funny. We are halfway through February but it really feels like the year is only just beginning. Do you ever feel that way?

The kids are back at school (well, mostly – we now have a uni student who still has a couple of weeks). The hot days are over and we are ready to knuckle down for an awesome year. And thankfully, the blog issues that have been plaguing me for a few weeks are all fixed.

I hope your 2019 is off to an amazing start. xxx

Today I’m here to share some ideas and inspiration for those of you who recently got your hands on some fabulous new BUTTERFLY products.

A look through the latest Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-bration brochure reveals an awesome collection of coordinating products featuring butterflies.

There’s patterned paper, stamps, thinlits dies, a punch and even pressed wood elements. All so pretty!

Not sure where to find your favourite butterfly products?

I know, it’s a bit confusing trying to find where they all are, but this table should help:

*If an item is in the Sale-a-bration brochure it can be chosen for FREE with a AUD$90 order – you can’t buy it separately.

Wooden Butterfly Elements

I love how these Butterfly elements coordinate so beautifully in both shape and size with the punch and papers.

Butterfly Gala Bundle: Stamps & Punch

The Butterfly Gala bundle features a stamp set and punch. The stamps are cleverly designed so that when you stamp with the butterfly images you get a large and small butterfly from a single impression. And conveniently, the punch perfectly lines up with both butterflies at the same time!

Ideas & Inspiration

Just a head’s up about the butterflies… although the Butterfly Duet punch *will* be available in the upcoming annual catalogue, stocks are a little low at the moment so they may temporarily become unavailable. If you want to get your hands on this punch but find that you can’t order it, please reach out to me.

Have a fabulous day!

CTC 213: Floral Romance Notebook (for Travellers Notebook Journal)

Published by under cards | Jan 27 2019

What’s CASE-ing The Catty? CASE stands for “Copy And Share Everything”. It means we use the ideas and inspiration from one project and apply them to another to create something altogether new. Each Sunday evening at 7pm AEST/8pm AEDT the CTC Crew kick off a new Challenge using the Stampin’ Up! catalogues as inspiration.

This week’s challenge is to CASE a project from pages 10-13 of the lovely new Occasions Catalogue, featuring the Floral Romance suite of products.

This is such a sweet and pretty combination of colours, layouts and products, it was a challenge picking just one element to CASE.

My main inspiration came from the gorgeous Floral Romance Specialty paper, which includes printed vellum. Wow. I literally wanted to use every different pattern in the pack… so I did!

My creative ‘play time’ led me down a very fun path. I ended up creating a 12-page notebook featuring every pattern in the Floral Romance pack.

Travellers Notebook

The notebook is 5″ x 7″ and I made it to fit inside my TN (travellers notebook) journal. The pages of the notebook are all made from the Floral Romance paper.

The outer cover is printed vellum, and is so lovely to touch. It has a bit of sponging, and I will add a label to the front once I finalise what I will use it for. At this stage, I think it will become my Gratitude Journal for 2019.

Here’s a quick flick-through of the pages of the notebook.

(If the video isn’t showing in your feed/browser, please click here to view)

I lined the pages with panels of white cardstock so I’d have a great surface to write on. You can see the final couple of pages in this video were before the white panel was added. If you just wanted to add photos to your notebook, you could mount them straight on to the paper and not worry about adding the writing panel.

I absolutely love how this notebook turned out.

I added a removable bookmark to the front with a hidden paperclip, and highlighted the pages with Beautifully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper.

Here are a few of the pages:
