Stampin’ Up! A Little Wild stamp set & Little Loves framelits

Published by under cards | Aug 06 2017

Hi friends,

This week the CASEing the Catty crew looks at pages 102-111 of the Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue – the babies and kids section.

Perfect timing for me, because just last week I got a delivery of new stamps, including this  which appears on page 108.

And this is what I came up with:

CTC 140: Stampin' Up!'s A Little Wild

As you can see, I modelled it pretty closely to the card in the catalogue but just switched out the animals and colours.

These stamps are so adorable! They come with the front and back view of the bear, lion and elephant, so that you can make reversible tags. So clever!

Of course, you can use them like regular stamps by applying ink to the front of the animal as I did here.

The is one of my favourite new additions to the product offering this year.

I thought I’d really miss the larger sequins when they retired, but these mini ones are even better.

Must admit, since I’ve discovered watercolouring with , outline images like these really interest me. The glimmery fluid in the blends the inks beautifully, and it just goes on as a smooth as silk.

Have you tried this technique?

3 Steps to Watercolouring with Wink of Stella

  1. Press on the lid of a closed Stampin’ Up! ink pad. Some of the ink will transfer to the lid, to become your ‘palette’.
  2. Dip the Wink of Stella brush in the lid of the ink pad, to pick up some of the ink.
  3. Watercolour by swirling the brush in small circles on your stamped image. Where you first drop the brush will be the darkest, so keep in mind where you want the light and dark spots to be. I find it easiest to imagine a light shining overhead on one side and that tells me where the shadows or lighter spots should go. The more you colour and swirl, the lighter it becomes until it’s time to pick up some more ink.

Although I didn’t use the dies to cut out our cutie patootie bear, I did use the leafy vine die for the background.

We cut out 5 vines and adhered them to create an interesting tone-on-tone  background.

This is a great die that will no doubt come in handy for many other projects.

So there you have it for me this week. Next stop on the hop is Monica who is sharing a fabulous project for us.

Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies

The Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies are – I think – the best part of all. Not only can you cut out stamped images but they also creates the most fabulous border as you can see in the card above.

Depending on the calibration of your Big Shot, you may need to use the Big Shot Precision Base Plate. See how you go.

There are 11 dies in the set, and the largest image is just roughly 10cm x 5cm.

Check out this video to see it all in action.

Ready For Christmas Staircase bundle by Stampin’ Up! #2

Published by under cards | Jul 29 2017

Stampin' Up! staircase: Christmas Staircase Thinlits dies (www.simonebartrum.com)

I suppose to some people it would seem strange to be talking about Christmas when it’s only July. But as crafters, we need to get organised early so we are all set for a relaxed December. Am I right?

Stampin' Up! staircase: Ready for Christmas Staircase bundle - Available in the 2017 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue from 1st September. Or if you're a demonstrator you can get from 1st of August 2017!

In just a couple of days, Stampin’ Up! demonstrators can order from the upcoming 2017 Holiday Catalogue, so Christmas is on our minds (and for some parts of the world, it’s all about Halloween and even Thanksgiving too). Would you like a copy of the new catalogue? I can send them out to anywhere in Australia and would be happy to help you with your stamping and cardmaking needs. Current customers will get theirs in the next few weeks, but if you’d like one just message me and we can get it organised.

In my last post I shared our first sneak peek of a brand new product from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue by Stampin’ Up!. A fabulous bundle called Ready for Christmas which features an adorable staircase, a detailed tree with matching branches and lots of extras. Yes, even the cutest little dog that looks a lot like a daschund!

Here’s that project again, but you can see more pictures of it here.

For a bigger view any of these projects, just click on the photo.

Well today’s share focuses on the staircase thinlits a bit more, and I’ve got some handy tips to help you with it too.

Stampin' Up! staircase: Ready for Christmas Staircase bundle - Available in the 2017 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue from 1st September. Or if you're a demonstrator you can get from 1st of August 2017!

These oversized cards are 14cm square (5 ½”) and they show just versatile the staircase die really is.

It can be made to look like steps outside the building (you know, like leading up to an apartment) as in the card on the left, or an inside staircase leading to an upper floor in a building, as shown on the right.

But the best thing about this die…

Stampin' Up! staircase: Christmas Staircase Thinlits dies and coordinating Ready for Christmas stamp set

It embosses as well as cuts!

Look at the fabulous panelling under the stairs, which shows up better on this .

The staircase stamp has a different look and will be awesome for watercolouring. But this die can be used on its own. Just a quick run through the Big Shot for a perfectly detailed staircase. Too easy.

Tip: You can also tell that the staircase stamp and framelit are not designed to work together because in the catalogue there’s no shading around the stamp image. That’s a quick way to know what dies coordinate with the image. It’s fabulous that we end up with different looking staircases from the one bundle.

And I have to say, someone really needs to make Harry Potter’s little room under the stairs. How adorable would that look?! Let me know if you make one.

For this card we’ve paired the Christmas Staircase framelits with the window dies again. Oh they are a match made in heaven. If you already have Hearth & Home you seriously need to order these staircase dies! If not, and you’re in Australia you can get that set here and I’ll even throw in some tutorials on how to make these projects.

The new Ready for Christmas bundle is available from the 1st of August for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. Are you in Australia but not with Stampin’ Up yet!? Join to access all demonstrator perks like early access to new products.

For everyone else, you can order this bundle from the 1st of September when the new catalogue goes live. Can’t wait!

9 tips to make this card:

  • Use a behind the Hearth & Home Window die to look like a pane of glass
  • Use instead of to allow a bigger gap behind the window so you can fit the tree with all the trimmings
  • Use some pretty DSP for the look of ‘wallpaper’ behind the tree
  • Decorate your tree with and
  • Curve the edges of your tree with the bone folder to make it look even more 3 dimensional
  • For more bling, add and sequin trim behind the sentiments
  • For the exterior wall of your ‘building’ use a sheet from the Wood Textures paper stack
  • Add texture with the embossing paste and brick wall stencil from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks
  • Make your staircase look like it’s made from steel by die cutting it from the silver foil sheets

Would you like some more sneak peeks? Leave a comment and let me know if you’d like to see more! I have a whole stack of projects here using this adorable bundle. xxx
